An ice cream spills on the sidewalk
all the shoes walking
on the strawberry ice cream
all the footprints three blocks
around are
colored pink
and there are triunphant people just emerging
from the earth
the stairs of the underground bring boots
exhausts the streets of people
they grow e x p a n d nnnnnd
when setting foot
on firm pavement
they come out in run-away bunches
from one bunch another
vanishes
and the next
a new shipment joins on the landing
to come out tugging
like handkerchiefs tied together
endlessly
from the magician’s sleeve
who could be on all the posters
of the city
showing their faces
now they are blue and green violet
dotted
reddish each time more subdued
with yellow stripes
until some shrewd one jumps
and steps aside
losing
his place in the procession
but not in space
he believes in changing sides
then there is a cry
two cries five
someone takes away a piece
of that handkerchief of that bunch of that
package of that pink color stain
of that reddish cry
and
they go up a step the policemen come they pass by where
where where fire assault robbery
demonstration darkness
disturbance where where
they shoot into the air
the air so low the shop window falls
it cuts the spurt of water of the fountain
there are wounded by drops of glass
by fragments of water
by tears of fire
all the metal curtains descend
who would buy in this chaos
